"I participated in Take Out Tuesday for two reasons: first, to get to know my neighborhood better. My husband and I moved to Georgetown a year ago, and due to the pandemic, we haven't really gotten to fully explore all that the neighborhood has to offer. It is so great to read about and visit delicious places that we can re-visit with our family and friends!

The second reason is to help out the neighborhood. I am well aware of how hard things have been, especially for the restaurant industry, over the last 2 years, so anyway I can help and contribute makes me feel good."

The Case for Take Out Tuesday

More than half of restaurant operators said it would be a year or more before business conditions return to normal. Food, labor, and occupancy costs are expected to remain elevated, and continue to impact restaurant profit margins in 2022.
Ninety-six percent of operators experienced supply delays or shortages of key food or beverage items in 2021 – and these challenges will likely continue in 2022.
Fifty-one percent of adults say they aren’t eating at restaurants as often as they would like, which is an increase of six percentage points from before the pandemic.
